In this fast and ever changing world of ours today, music specifically western music has special role to play in Indonesian’s young people day - to - day living. The effects of western music to some extent have been considered to be inseparable way of life of young people in Indonesian. Nowadays, the development of western music is rapidly increasingda6y by day and truly felt in the rhythm of young Indonesian’s life. That is reason why there is no doubt if western music becomes so popular in Indonesia and in the other hand traditional music has become less popular and least interested by young people. I agree with this statement on account of the following reason.
First, it becomes learning instrument. In globalization era people need to master other language in order to communicate with other people from other countries. And one of the other interesting ways to learn is through listening and singing western song especially English songs. In this case, by using western songs in learning a language the learners can increase their vocabulary and pronunciation like English native speaker.
Second, kinds of music. There are many Indonesian young people like western music because their music is dynamic in which make consumerist of western music do not feel bore. Western music gives deep meaning in real life through the lyrics of the song.
Third, western song is viewed as a point of references for Indonesian song composers. As we know it is an inevitable fact that western song do not only good in their meaning but also in song arrestment. Therefore, it inspires Indonesian music composers to be more creative in composing songs. Further more the voice quality of western singer is far beyond compared to Indonesian singer.
In conclusion, western music is becoming more and more popular and has a special role to bring forth the advancement not only to the Indonesian in general but also to the Indonesian song composers. It is precisely because English songs or western songs have become of a media of learning, have a good music dynamic, and have a high quality. In short, western music has contributed to the Indonesian young people.
